Default 94 VVT No Tach - Tried everything, need help!

FM221 (ME221 sorta) tuned by Alex Hickson (recommended)

94 NA with a VVT Swap

Contacted FM on this too but wanted to check with others too.

The ECU sees RPM, the Tach just doesn’t work.

Continuity between the ECU to the Tach and from the -IG pin all the way through.

Things we’ve tried:

Note: -IG diagnostics port reads 11v with the car running.
  • 1k Ohm resistor from the BAT to -IG on the diagnostic port - nothing
  • Single black/white unused wire from the original coils to the -IG port - nothing
  • -IG port directly to the tachometer - nothing
  • -IG port directly to the 2i pin on the ECU - nothing

Thanks
Andre'

I tried a resistor on mine in the diagnostic box it didn't work. I did try an MSD tach adapter and it worked. Maybe that would be worth a shot. I installed that in the diagnostic box just as you would a resistor.

I put it inline with the diagnostic like you would a resistor to bridge the terminals

Didn't work for me, I've tried a number of things but to no avail. I'm considering a different ECU at this point or going back to NA coils but would prefer to just start with a working ECU.

I think on my 94, no vvt. I just ran a wire from tach out on the ms2pnp into the harness underhood, not sure which wire. One of the unused ones from my ls coil kit I used. But I havnt worked on that car in 4 years as it's currently blow up lol
