Per Emilio’s recommendation for a separate thread, what’s the best size recommendation for 15x8 on the street with a V8 (300-400hp) in an Exocet chassis? I planned on 245/40 but it seems like everyone here goes with 9 or 10 wide, I’m from the muscle car world where 245 and 8’s go well together, but people here disagree. Is it worth sizing down to a 225/45 or would the power level dictate staying 245/40? Per Maxxis, 245/40/15 on a 15x8rim
is acceptable, as is the 225/45.
I already own the wheels as they were purchased as a package through Exomotive. I understand that everyone is going to say that 9 or 10 wide is better and I would agree, however, 8’s are what I have and are going to be using. Also, I want to stress that this is a street build, so I’m not chasing tenths of a second. I may play around at auto-x once or twice a year for kicks but no serious competition.
For cold grip A052, no other 200TW will beat it, second is the RE71RS. These aren't the best road corse tire though but cold hook and autox, they dominate. I love this site for info but track guys tire needs are not the same as what you need. There's an SCCA STS and E street chat page on FB. They run the above.
15x10 with either zero or negative offset with 245/40 for track or street.
15x11 with hella negative offset and 275/35 Nankang AR-1 or CRS (if it exists) or 285/40 Vitour P1's
Our OGK project car, NB with about 400whp and no windhshield will run these combos
