I have never seen this nor heard of it. A search here produced nothing on 'suspension failure', though we know about the need to strengthen the lower front chassis ears. But upper?! Or have I just missed the memo?

Yes, there are a couple more photos showing cracks. states it is happening in atmo cars too. If you have big HP, big brakes, big sticky tyres ... maybe that is more than Mr Mazda designed it for. And if you use the kerbs a lot too ...
In any case, that pre-event nut-and-bolt check might now take in the front arm upper mount as well.
