It's a new era since the last time I've been here, and lately I have been using 3D printers for almost everything. After an exhausting search for keywords and sifting through the posts, I was wondering why don't we have a general 3D print file section? Just files people want to share related to the platform and the like. Just an idea.
I missed out on the H2D/40w combo this morning. ******* took it out of my cart.
You don't want to get the laser version. Just buy the standard H2D.
The laser will cause the machine to get super dirty and you will spend a ton of time cleaning. My wife had a higher powered laser engraver several years ago. It was great when using it, it sucked to clean, set up, and take down. We had to vent air from it out of the house, and it also needed water ran to the laser to keep it cool enough.
I hear ya about the dust. We have a few older lasers here at work (10w & 20w) that we need to replace as the diodes are old and not outputting enough watts. The bambu laser premium is $1300 for 40w. I know not all laser watts are the same but for $1300 vs my various quotes avg. $35k for a new laser machine, is in the noise not to try it. One entire X1C cost just under what we were paying just to feed the stratasys printers monthly (they were up to $350/kg for ******* abs + $$$ service contract on machines that always broke down) and is decades more advanced, prints better, faster. Maybe their laser & software will be the same way. If it works, it'd be a dedicated engraver for aluminum and steel parts out in assembly. Otherwise the laser parts will go in the dumpster and the printer will go next to the other bambus.
A lot of the things I've printed have just been from thingiverse, but it's definitely more and more applicable to our cars these days. Cam locker, trans plug, RMS installer These have broken on me many times, decided to go back to metal GoPro Mount for the roll bar 2 piece door bushings. Stiff Nylon inside, softer TPU outside
And, my personal favorite since it was was of the only things I've designed, was the TPU spark plug well gaskets for the R8 coil packs.
Even if it was just file links and comments/review on print materials/settings I think it could be a valuable section.
