Default First start prep/speedyefi ecu 97 1.8na

Have a few quick questions while installing a speedyefi pnp kit on my 97 1.8 na miata since most of the videos/info I’ve found are usually 1.6 kits

1) Do I have to calibrate the tps and set values for WOT and no throttle? Was looking for answers but saw lots of people saying they’d get no values when trying to calibrate. I know the 1.8 has a different tps than the 1.6. If i do need to calibrate, am i pulling that fuel pump relay aswell?

2)I have the vacuum line from the ecu T’d into the throttle body along with the cruise control line. I never use cruise control so id assume this wont be an issue? But was wondering if there is a better place to run that line into. (Pic below of vac line)

Just trying to be cautious before first start, very new to this so any info helps!

Hi,

If you are installing new board you should at least check TPS calibration. Anyway even if you didnt it will not affect engine start, can only slight affect driveability

you probably dont need to remove any fuse as for NA 1.6 Miatas. NA1.8 cars control fuel pump differently than NA1.6, on your case it should just work without additional steps

your vacuum line connection seems to be acceptable. Even working CC should not affect MAP reading.

The reason you don't see people with a 1.6 mentioning calibrating their throttle is because the 1.6 does not have a variable throttle sensor. The 1.8 needs to be calibrated to operate properly.
