Default 1.6 IAC options

Yesterday I was playing with the boost in my 1.6 and blew my IAC clean open. Car has run fine for years at 15-13lbs. IAC popped at 23lbs. Not planning to always run that high of boost but trying to find some options to resolve this and haven't found much in my searching.

Options I can think of:
1. I would prefer to keep an IAC. I read a couple places of having the IAC pull from atmosphere with a one way valve so air can't go back out. Anyone here try that? Wouldn't it still be under the same pressure?
2. 1.8TB. I found a place that makes a 1.8TB to 1.6 manifold adapter plate. By the looks of it, later 1.8 IACs are stronger. Is it a good option to use that TB and IAC combo? Also stock TBs and IACs are WAY cheaper than they are for the 1.6
3. Remove and Block off the IAC. I really don't want to but the car is more track oriented than street. How bad is the idle on cold starts from 40f-50f? Basically the coldest I ever start the car now.

Thanks for any info you have!

How...how did it blow clean open? Was both sides plumbed into the intake piping?

I have the FM throttle body inlet silicone pipe so the IAC inlet feeds from the same charged air that goes through the throttle body. The valve on the intake manifold is there but blocked off so no air goes through it. That part has been like that since I bought it and was still stock non-turbo.
