Default Turbo's off and busy!

My turbo is off at the mo (making a new manifold!) would it be an idea to have a go at the turbo while its all off too?

TD04 H what is their to look for ie shaft wobble oil deposits that type of thing?

And where can I get a rebuild kit, ifg I need one?

If its worth doing something while its off I will, doing the job right and all that

Advice please.

How many miles are on it?
What kind of oil do you run?
Do you currently have any problems with it?

Looks for oil leaks, if the seals are blown it will be obvious. Check shaft play with your hand. Some is normal but if it hits the housing then that is obviously not a good thing. You can inspect more easily by taking the housings off which is pretty easy with a couple wrenches and a pair of big 90* needle nose for the snap ring if it has one.

engines done under 65000 miles, turbo was on the car when it was imported from Japan.

Very minor movement on the (fan/turbine) shaft, no problems generally.

Tiny amount of oil drip sometimes in the bottom turbo side of the intercooler mount but doesnt seem to be any in the pipe work?

Turbo has been great.
