Default Is it even possible to do this?

I changed out the front tranny seal last week. Read up on it but I may have not retained the info. For some reason Im thinking I put the seal on the input shaft and gently tapped in flush with the housing. Well I seem to maybe have a small leak through the weep hole and its got me wondering. Ive reread instuctions and I should have tapped it onto the front cover. Is it even possible to do what Im thinking I did? Im looking at pictures of the input shaft and it looks like even I couldnt have done that. I remember it went on like it belonged there
