Anyone have experience with that vendor? Seems like a good deal to me, but it's one of those "maybe too good to be true things"

 

I'd be wary. 16.18102 is for a Honda. The Miata Master kit is 11.18102. You'd have to call them to be sure. 949racing has good prices on their ES kits.

But they do offer the diff bushings for $50, which is what I really need right now. I was thinking i'll get the whole shebang and install them slowly over time.

Another $10 is well spent for the support and advice they will gladly give you vs. some online shop that knows nothing but how to take orders. A 5-10% increase in cost will be long forgotten when you get a bit of advice that might save you time, headaches, busted knuckles and wasted expense.

I see this in my industry all the time. People come into my store to try out a bunch of pool cues, pick my brain for advice then go save $15 online on a $200 item. I understand if the extra cost is not worth the advice and help. If it isn't don't waste my time in the 1st place.

That price does look awfully good. Like others said, that's the wrong part number. You need to verify what they are selling at that price.

 

there is a used set already installed on the m.net classifeds right now for a good deal. Just swap all your control arms and sell your old ones when done. easy install

 

i sent them an email about it (couldn't find their phone number) and they replied saying that it was their mistake, and they updated the part number on that link.

But their description about the kit is still a little off.

You guys are right about the supporting vendors. I'll hold off a bit until I'm actually ready to begin the install, but I'll be sure to support our vendors.

 

To me it's not even so much a supporting vendor as it is who is a genuine enthusiast, who is willing to answer questions, who is knowledgeable, who is selling products they believe in and not just something they can make a few bucks on. Emilio at 949, Fatcat, FM, BEGI, M-tuned and many others are all real enthusiasts. I like that they innovate and actually try and work with the products they produce or resell. They aren't always the best buy but if they are in the ballpark it's well worth the extra money to support them and learn from their experience and knowledge base.

Decent, but slightly different example: I have taken stuff to get welded before. Things I didn't trust myself to do right the first time. Well, I know a few welders that would have probably done it cheaper for me. But I always take my stuff to this one old man. His name is Spicer, and he knows welding. He's been welding for like 60 years, no kidding. Always helpful, and I always get some great advice from him whenever I talk to him. Just getting to pic such an experienced welders brain for 20 or 30 minutes is well worth the 40 bucks I paid him every time.
