I have bilstein HD's with GC 450/375 springs. Now that I have that much grip in my future, am I likely to need more spring and damper? Is it time to fork over the coin for Tein Flex or something else for a similar price?

Don't fix what ain't broke. Run it and see if it works for you 1st! As much as Emilio has my respect and is vastly more knowledgeable than myself, I'm not 100% sold on the Teins. There's a number of guys here that aren't thrilled with them. Could be a matter of the set up and adjustments but....

I'd send those Bilsteins off for a revalve (fatcat?), move the 450's to the rear and go 650-700 in the front.

 

I would go with some konis myself, but I am kinda biased being <100 miles from the facility and from running track days with Lee Grimes' group.

 

Well, the bilsteins are a beating on the streat...bad. It actually hurts to drive the car with that much spring on those dampers.

I drove Johnwagz' car and I was impressed. I'd also like to have the adjustability because I'm driving at a level right now where I can use the adjustments.

The FCM revalve is almost as much as flex, and still not adjustable.

I guess I need to relax and get the car on the track though...I might be fast enough on them. However, I'm going to need more spring.

 

450's will suck(sold mine) and went with teins

 

I'm leaning toward flex with 10/7 springs.

On a serious note, I was actually wondering the same thing about the GCs. I'm considering if I should just go straight to the Teins since I'm considering running the nt01s as a track tire.

 

225 nt-01 on 15x9 6uls put the sidewall perfectly square, with max contact patch...and supposedly buy 1 full second or so at willow.

 

I just bought adjustable, custom valved Bilsteins from FCM today... about $2200 out the door with CA tax and shipping. If you price a comparable Flex setup from Emilio (~10/6, and custom revalves on both ends) it's $2199 without tax. About a toss pricewise and a revalved Bilstein will ride quite a bit better than the stock ones you're familiar with. I personally like Bilsteins having had a number of sets on different cars and that's what tipped me in favor of the FCM setup, plus Shaikh is local to me, 949 isn't.

 

are you a professional race car driver? if you are then you should be looking at motons. otherwise you will be just fine with your current setup.
