Default Building motor need advice on bearings

Ok so have most of you guys used stock size or oversize main bearings for your engine builds? I am ordering the bearing today from belfab for a build i am doing for a friend and just want to know what you guys have done.

how do you know what bearing size to use if you don't have the motor cracked open yet?

I bought and used regular sized ones but I think hustler is right. Do you know the condition of your friend's engine?

I have the engine open and i am looking at it. It doesn't show any real signs of wear, but i know when you are talking about things within a close tollerance i need to use a caliper. The 99 engine we are using only has 40,000 miles on it, so i assume it really doesn't need the oversized bearings.

I just didn't know if these engines had a history of needing oversized bearings or if most people used standard size.

I'd try to stick with the standard size bearings, save the oversized bearings for down the road.

Late is better than never... OK, maybe not.

I used stock size on a 110k mile '94 engine. All of my tolerances were still well within spec, though I think it was the rod bearings that were maybe out of ideal, but still well within factory maximum. I have it all written down somewhere. This is surely useless info now though. Not that it would have been helpful in the first place since no two engines would be the same.
