Default New motor mounts.

So, I've been dealing with sloppy shifting for a long time now and I decided to get new motor mounts. So, I ordered the mazdaspeed mounts from Emilio and waited patiently for them to arrive. Last night I went to install them and pulled the old ones out and lo and behold, one of them is broken. That would explain the sloppy shifting. 2 hours later, the new ones were in and WOW. I can actually predict where 3rd and 5th gears are going to be now! Also, my clutch shudder is pretty much eliminated.

Here's the old ones.

I need to do this, I had assumed it was the transmission mounts. Good to know.

So the transmission doesnt have rubber mounts? How does it mount? I just assumed because it feel like the looseness was closer to the trans then the motormounts.

The transmission is mounted to the engine via the bellhousing and then the power plant frame (PPF) on the other end.

Dont worry about it. It's not even noticeable.

I've got MMR motor mounts on my '90 and it's amazing how much of a difference it made. Shifts much better and they completely eliminated wheelhop. Probably wouldn't recommend them for a daily driver though.

Hmm, i hadn't even thought about the wheelhop issue. Well, i'm headed to the 1/4 mile this friday so we will see. Wheelhop was a MAJOR issue before.

Here's another of an older Miata than the previous posted one.

FWIW, I've driven on MMRs in my daily, I lasted about 3 weeks before caving and trading for the MazdaComps.

I never realized how important the PPF is. I learn so much here.
