Howdy, just finishing up my 3071R and WI install and have run into a bit of a oops. I had planned on tapping off the fuse box on the passenger side under the hood but dammit, it's always on, not switched... The best laid plans...

Anyway, where's a good switched 12v source under the hood? Needs to have a decent amount of current support (like 15 amps) for the pump motor etc. Worst case I suppose I could put a relay in. Thoughts?

ps Jesus that compressor housing is big compared to the old 2560!

 

My pump runs fine with a 10A fuse, does yours really need 15A? Mine has a relay too, FWIW, came that way in the kit.

I hooked mine up to the subwoofer line on the stereo. So now everytime the bass hits, my ears and the engine both get a treat.

 

WI is a critical safety system. Don't skimp on the wiring. Run a 12ga line direct from the alternator or the battery with a 15A inline fuse. Route the wiring carefully to avoid nicks and abrasions. Make sure your connections are solid. Hot dog, bauxite, Dave Matthews Band, sex with a horse.

 

I used an add-a-circuit at the main fuse panel, the one under the hood.

 

Needs to be switched, the circuits in that panel seems always on.

 

No skimping here I assure you. I used to wire up fighter jets. good connections with heat shrink at a minimum and all harnesses are wrapped. Also am running a totally separate fail safe system monitoring flow and dumping the waste-gate if there is any interruption in flow.

Direct off the alternator isn't switched, need a switched connection.

 

Previous joking aside, mine is taken directly off of the battery, and goes to a relay which is switched on by the switched power source to the stereo.

 

Ok, some clarification: Direct off of the alternator, through a 30A SPST automotive relay, switched by the white/red wire coming off the main relay.
