Default M10x1.5 Inconel turbo studs - GROUP BUY

I am gauging interest in a GB on these studs. I will be testing a set of these in 2 weeks on a CA turbo car that is currently having the turbo stud problem; provided the test goes well, we will put them on sale.

At the current quotes I'm recieving, I can get these out the door for $100 shipped for group buy. I need 10 people to commit at this price. No payment necessary until after the R&D testing is done - I won't sell a product that I haven't tested on a car.

The studs are the correct size/length for BEGi manifolds; FM guys can upgrade to 10mm studs and use them as well. I'll include nuts as well, probably Audi-style copper locking nuts.

The Inconel alloy we are using has the correct thermal expansion rate, and its yield strength is several times higher. I am confident that this material will not stretch and creep like standard mild steel studs do, and they will be a direct bolt-in replacement for those standard studs.

For mechanical locking, we have the option of providing these studs pre-drilled for safety wire, but I will know more about whether that will be required or not after the test session in 2 weeks.

After group buy, the cost will probably go up to the $125-140 range.

Who's interested?

Is it $100 for 4 studs and 4 nuts, or will this include the manifold-head studs and nuts as well?

4 nuts and 4 studs. I guess I could supply you with the studs for the head too, but it is obscene overkill - I have no problems with the mild studs on my Absurdflow setup. If you really want a set, shoot me a PM and I can give you a quote.

I'm in for a set. Haven't had mine fail yet, but it's probably going to happen eventually. The price is cheap compared to missing most or all of a track day out here.

Bumping this, I am finally getting these tested on a fast Cali track car. VagaXT is trying them for me in 3 weeks at WSIR. If it goes well I will take orders the following Monday.

I shot myself in the foot by convincing nearly all of the fast track people I know to switch to v-bands

I will be interested in them if they work. It is either yours or Begi ones. Can not afford V-Bands this year.

It's taken them a while because I was really, really picky about who I wanted to test these. I didn't want someone who wasn't going to do a thorough job, someone who hasn't had this problem in the past. The last thing I want is to test these in an insignificant environment, ship them out, and have half the people who bought them come back to me with the same issues mild steel had. If they hold up in Sonny's car, I have no doubt they'll hold up in anyone else's car.

Initial testing has gone well. T25 car going 1:43.9s at Laguna using the Inconels, either copper lockers or something similar (not stage 8s), and Resbond everywhere, and they did not come loose. 1:44s at LS is 2-3 seconds under the SM record. I want to get at least one or two sessions in that test car at some point so I can put some 1:41 laps through them to ensure that they are doing what we want, and then remove them and take some measurements to check stretch and to see how the threads were holding up.

Short answer: We are close, but not yet. I want to make 100% sure these work before charging $100 a set for them. It will likely be ~10 sets at $100, and then the price will jump to $125-150 on our site as a regular item.

For those of you who have M10x1.25 cars, I will be doing A FEW sets with that thread pitch, but it will NOT be a regular item.

M8 guys, I am not planning to do a stud in that size since I have no way to test it. I recommend you redrill and tap to M10x1.50.

Any ETA on these Savington? I am looking to get my built motor together sometime near the middle to end of April and would love to get them installed with the motor out of the car.

Nothing hard. They will be tested in two different cars, a BEGi and new-style FM manifold at Laguna at MRLS, and if all goes well there then I will start taking orders via group buy. I'll need 10 people to commit with full deposits before an order can be placed. The middle of April is probably optimistic, I'd aim for somewhere near the end of May.

These should be very, very easy to install with the motor in the car, though - just pull the turbo off and set it to the side and it should take you anywhere from 15 minutes to 12 hours depending on how bad your other studs are
