Default Putting the shortnose B6T rods myth to rest

I pulled apart the 1.6 shortnose I had and checked to see if they really do have the B6T rods that they are rumored to have. Result: they are just normal rods. This isn't definitive since it's just one shortnose, but it's certain that not all shortnose have the B6T rods. For reference this is out of a '90 miata with a build date of 3/90.

as far as i know, the 87-88 gtx is the only b6t that got those rods , here atleast, now go look in nz and every b6t has them rods, and you can snag them super cheap....

I have heard it mentioned a few times actually. I did not put much credence to it, but its nice to have someone put it to rest for sure.

There have been a couple threads on here https://www.miataturbo.net/showthrea...&highlight=b6t post #3

I was curious if it was true or not, and I had a shortnose motor that was no good anymore so I figured I'd get a hard answer instead of rumors.

Just for the hell of it, here is a picture of B6T rods out of a mercury capri, notice anything funny?

All b6's have these rods if they were produced after 1989.
