turbo heating up
1992 miata turbo charged td04h (link engine management) (400cc)
swapped my 1.6 motor. For some reason the trubo get really hot on idle. is it possible that there is no oil going to the turbo or is it always extremely hot like that. Didnt pay attention to it before.
engine temp seems fine. coolant seems fine. no leaks. sensors good. engine runs good besides an annoying valve tick.

gotta car show on the 30th.. eek!

I start the car on idle for about 2 minutes and I swear i can spit on the turbo and see my spit sizzle. It seems extremely hot. the car has not been dyno'd yet. It runs rich. Is the turbo being over boiling temp on idle normal?

I hate to be an ***, but I kinda agree with hustler. Turbo won't last long with no oil.
Would you grab your exhaust manifold while your car is idling? The air comes immediately out of the exhaust manifold and into the turbo.
I'll break it down further. The combustion process builds a fire in the combustion chamber. Would you light a container of gas on fire and stick your hand in it. **** no, it's hot.
Thank you, this post has provided me some relief while studying for my ABR exam. If my wife would ever come home with my lunch, life would be bliss.

Edit: Actually, it sounds like the flux capacitor, follow this link to figure out how it makes your engine faster.
