Default What size is the lock nut on steering rack?

I've got a 91 with PS that I'm doing the full manual conversion on. I have the rack out of the car but none of my crescent wrenches open large enough to get that damn off in order to get the yoke out as seen here:

I have a 36mm socket which is too small, but what farking size is that thing so when I go to the store I have a range I can make work. Obviously that is not my rack but I need a wrench <that> size.

Thanks,
Greer

That looks like a 12" wrench, just get the biggest that you can afford from harbor freight. It'll come in handy for killing prostitutes later.

I believe I used channel locks.

a 15" crescent wrench did the job just fine. I think the 12" one I had didn't open to a full 1.5" as advertised. One curious thing is that unlike the photos I've seen, the lock nut and "cover" came out as one piece. seems like its a single unit on mine, a bit confusing. Anyone else run across this?

You can grind the worm screw on crescent wrenches to gain an extra 1/4" or so.

You just wanted to use worm, screw, and grind in the same sentence.
