Default Turbo water feed with thermostat housing removed

93 1.6 FMII hardware

I have done the coolant reroute and while the engine is out being rebuilt I would like to remove the front thermostat housing and cap it with a core plug.

Q1. To feed coolant to the turbo I would like to use the coolant feed on the block next to the oil feed (by the dip stick), will that be ok?

Q2. I assume the turbo coolant drain will need to go to the mixing manifold / water pump inlet but I cant find any info/pics of the best place to do this, could anyone help me with this one? Could the drain go elsewhere?

Q3. There is currently a hose going to the inlet manifold from the thermostat housing, if I remove the the housing what do I do with this hose?

Grateful for any help
Barry

Yes, it's okay to feed from the hole near the oil feed. You can also just use that line coming from the intake manifold, kill two birds with one stone.

Thanks for the reply, If I use the manifold feed I assume that there is a constant coolant flow from the Inlet Manifold?

As far as I know, yes. I'm using this on my turbo, but it hasn't been tested yet. I do know that it's been capped for a few years now, and the cap has failed a number of times. Each time coolant sprays out fairly vigorously, so if it doesn't work I'll be highly surprised.

Err, yes. If you're keeping both the TB thingy and the intake manifold thingy. Both of those are eliminated in my setup, so I'm getting it directly from the intake manifold head flange.

You can see the pipe coming out of the dotted outline of the flange.

It goes from there, to the throttle body, then to the intake thingy, then to your turbo. Feel free to eliminate any of those.
