Default Lets talk Ebay turbos

Ive been eyeing some Ebay turbos for my build. I hear Godspeed is a good brand, so Ive been looking at this one in particular

GODSPEED t25/t28 turbo internal wastegate 8psi sr20 s13 | eBay

The only caveat is that it will need the funky compressor housing outlet flange, which I cant find cheaper than ~$25 before shipping. Which I think is the same case for the compressor side. Which would increase the price of the turbo to around $300.

So ive been looking around some more and found this:

GT28 GT2870-1 T25 .60 A/R COMP .64 A/R turbine 180SX S13 CA18DE Turbocharger | eBay

which looks nice, since it appears to have the hose-clamp style outlet and inlet.

Ive done some searching for what everyone else has been running, but every thread I come across has expired ebay links. Ideally id like to keep it under $200, but under $300 may be more reasonable. Im just ready to buy one turbo and call it done.

I always hear about mythical SR20 T25s with no shaft play going for $100, but have yet to see one yet.

You can run a WRX td04 like me, can find them all over nasioc or your local subaru club.
I got a spare for mine with no shaft play for 75 bucks. It is similar to 2554, probably maxes out at 200-225 whp.

would be nice, but the td04 appears to have a different style exhaust flange (my downpipe is a t25 flange)

They can be had, I sold one back in April for $125 i think. Check Zilvia.net if you haven't. Rebuild kits are also cheap.

The Zilvia folks seem to sell good turbos for cheap to "upgrade" to eBay turbo's. For my money, I'd take a questionable T25/T28 over an eBay turbo any day.

Ah yeah for sure, not to mention its a different flange at the manifold. Didn't realize you already had a manifold/downpipe.

My Ebay emotorusa turbo worked great. Boosted to 25psi. It still has no shaft play. They dont seem to make the same pwr as their Garrett counterpart. I ran -3 an oil feed. I replaced it with a 2860rs. The rs spools sooner and feels like it makes more pwr, but I wont know until I put it on the dyno. I made 280 with the churbo, but clutch was letting go.

Point: churbo has its place if your willing to sacrifice a little spool and power. If you have a built motor, just get the real thing. You will start to get pissed that it isnt making the HP that you thought you would. Stock, who cares, you have to limit what you put into the motor anyway.

I posted saying I was looking for a turbo and some chick sent me a message. Cute girl too, I thought it was a scam. She sent me a pic so I paid her and a week later I get a brand new turbo in the mail. 13k miles later at 15psi and its still going strong, knock on wood. I love it. Supercharger like boost onset and sounds awesome.
