I am looking at downpipe options for my budget turbo build. I will be using begi cast log style manifold with a gt2560R turbo.

My plan so far is to use the Flyin Miata turbo cast turbo outlet elbow and have an exhaust shop fabricate a 3 in dump tube and complete exhaust which would be relatively easy to do.

Flyin' Miata : Turbochargers : Parts and upgrades : 1990-05 turbine outlet (downpipe upper section)


I am wondering if anyone has tried a sr20 replacement turbo outlet as a budget solution to start a down pipe. See the links bellow for examples.

Should work on a street car based on seeing these used on other cars with decent results.
Downpipe gets nowhere near as hot as a mani, especially with a free-flowing exhaust, so its not as important to use highest grade steel.

Again this is just based on what I've seen with other cars.
No personal experience

 

Hmm....

Looked at some pictures a little more closely and It looks like this will only work on a bottom mount turbo due to the 5 bolt flange orientation.

so i guess scrap that idea and this thread.

On mine I used a 3" 240 eBay down pipe. Just modified it to fit my application. It was like $30 to get it modified.
