AIT in manifold?

Was discussing with a friend today and we talked about air temp sensor locations. Is there a reason no one seems to drill and tap the intake manifold and put them in there? Heat soak from surrounding metal? Curious really is why I ask. I searched and found nothing.
Heat soak from surrounding metal, especially in idle, where there's little airflow. With that said, I didn't actually try it myself, but read about a lot of guys with that issue. I put mine right after the intercooler, outside of the engine bay.
There is one in the VICS manifold sitting in my apartment that is going on my engine. I've got another GM iat in my apartment wiht a connector, and a 3rd GM iat at my house that came with my AMS4. Needless to say the iat sensor is staying in the manifold because it is JB welded in and doenst leak, its just a strange looking plug that functional iat will be going else where.
I've run a manifold with the iat in the manifold, acutally the iat was integrated into the map sensor. You could do a 3rd gear-4th gear pull on that, with basically no increase in the iat, once you stopped the pull the iats would climb way up (because supercharger mounted directly to the mani with w/a ic).

Technically you could mount the sensor right on the neck behind the throttle body and get plenty of air passing through it however the problem with heat soak will still exist and its a big problem. As in your car will run like **** in traffic or after a hot start problem. More so like in all conditions except cruise and cold start in the morning.
Just about everyone, including MOST oem's, agree that its not an ideal location for reasons stated above. You want it to come into contact with as much of the air as possible to be as accurate as possible, and its much easier to achieve that on a charge pipe prior to the tb than a manifold
