My nerdness is happy. Early access engage! Downloading the client as we speak. very much looking forward to an open world Final Fantasy game. Impressive character design and customization, and I hear that some of the big bosses will require everyone from an entire region of the map to team together in sort of a Final Fantasy army to defeat it.

Games sure are getting big. The primary download was 6.5GB, now a client update is needed that is another 2.5GB. I'm sure there will be another download soon.

That doesn't seem too big. Seems like 10GB or so is the norm now.

Good lord, am I the only Final Fantasy nerd here? This game is slowly absorbing what little was left of my life these days. I need to get back to work. Having not worked for almost 3 months is beginning to take its toll. The game so far though is pretty damn flawless, aside from the typical early release server issues they are sorting out. Once that is taken care of, it should be a ******* epic game. So much world to explore, so much **** to kill, so many quests to do, so much side story to follow and get lost in. Graphics are beautiful, world is beautiful, music is beautiful since Nobuo Uematsu handled the music again. Character customization is extensive, and being able to completely change the look of the character with various pieces of armor and weapons is awesome. The controls are admittedly a bit complicated and hard to follow sometimes. But it is such a vast game with so many jobs and roles, so they had to cover everything with one hud and controller button set, so it is forgivable.

Well sounds like I may need to try this game out. Was a big FF7 and FF9 fan. And indeed Nobuo Uematsu made some great music for those games...

It's only wow-ish because some aspects cater to casuals. The boss mechanics are all sequenced, but until you learn them you'll die and you'll die a lot.

It's a pretty damn fun game, the music is awesome, and the graphics are great. I just need a new cpu, my 7 year old e6750 is worn the hell out and so is the motherboard.

If anyone is looking for a MMO, I'd recommend picking this up.

I also belong the the FFVII and FFIX camp. I played FFXIII and thought it was alright, had about an hour of FXIII-2 before i debated returning it.

I feel like once I finish grad school, I'll be able to catch up on what i missed over the past 6 years
