Day trip to Robbinsville, NC [multiple photos]
This past Saturday (2014-03-22) my brother and I took our Miatas up through the mountains to see the SCCA Dragon Hillclimb near Robbinsville, NC. While the event was lacking in excitement compared to previous years, the journey more than made up for it.
Here's the route we took:
Mine is the silver turbocharged 1.6 with PS, A/C, and 15x8 wheels. His is the blue one, as basic as can be - N/A 1.6, manual steering, no A/C, stock steelies, etc. They couldn't be more different, but both are great fun.
These were taken on US-281 next to a cool little dam:
The rest were taken on US-28, my new favorite road. The drive back was mostly under the cover of darkness, but that only served to heighten the excitement of the narrow, winding pass. What a brilliant drive! I need to go back in daylight hours and soak in the scenery.
I may have gotten a little too enthusiastic with the camera, but the setting was gorgeous.
