Default 99 Miata Cam Gear timing bumps

I am trying to figure out what the second set of timing bumps do on the 99 Miata intake cam gear.

Are the seconds ones even necessary? I recall someone saying just one bump enough and the second set of bumps were not necessary. Just trying to figure how they work.

Thanks

probably required for the stock ECU as it expects those two bumps to be there. why? well, 2nd set of bumps probably indicates a specific cam position. not sure what the ECU does with that. If you have the source code though...
