After tearing down my VVT motor today I noticed some weird wear on the cam tips. Some of the cams have a brownish/tan area on them. If you look at the dark grey areas within the tan sections, you can see what looks like galling of the surface. There is also horizontal lines on the closing side of the ramp. I am just curious if anyone has seen this before and may have any ideas what maybe causing it.
