Default miata acting weird

So I have a 1993 turbocharged miata running a megasquirt plug n ply 2. When start the car it starts and idles really rough. When I go to accelerate the car just backfires and barely accelerates. All of the sudden I will be going from a stop light and the car starts idling perfectly and accelerating perfectly with no backfires. Sometimes the car just stays running rough and doesn't switch into this "good" mode. What could be causing this to happen. Is it maybe my distributor is bad or is a setting in megasquirt? Thanks for the help!

It's either your distributor or your carburetor.

sorry I meant the ignition coil pack. Im thinking it has to be something in my megasquirt settings if it just switches to running well. Im not sure tho.

Was it running well recently? Did you change anything? Was it running megasquirt NA?

It was running well today but then I shut the car off and start it back up and it runs poorly. I did recently change the head gasket. I have a set of old rx8 injectors in there maybe one of them is kinda broken. Im just wondering what could cause it to run so poorly where I can barely drive it and then all of the sudden run perfectly. Would that be a mechanical issue or something with my settings?

Your CAS could be going out, check your spark plugs for fouling. I wouldn't be surprised if your coil packs are failing with heat.
Also check your base timing.

Do you have any logs of when it is acting up verse when it is working well.
