Question Low compression piston rings, without turbo = noticable loss of power?

Hi.

Quick question folks. If i would go with forged rods, pistons and lower compression piston rings when I rebuild my engine, but decides down the route NOT to go turbo after all. Will the loss of power be noticeable?

Car: 1999 1.8 NB manual.

The reason for asking is that i'm kinda scared to commit to going turbo just yet as i dont know how my economy will be the following year.

Thanks in advance for any input/advice/answers!

no such thing as low compression rings. there are loose ring end gaps, which is highly subjective topic. I personally never run then much more loose than OEM, and have never had them butt even with 300-350whp. Some run them real loose on track cars or really high boost/power builds. We're talking about extremes here, not your typical street turbo miata
