Question Anyone add Torco or Lucas Octane Booster?

Specifically FI guys. Everything I've read says they work so I'm just curious if any FI Miata guys have ever done a before & after dyno to show exact gains.

From the track testing and data logs I have done, Torco does work at reducing detonation. And allowing a bit more safety factor when hot.

That said octane boosters won't specifically increase horsepower unless oxygenated, that is a function of mixture, timing and how much mixture you can convince to flow into the combustion chamber.

Yes you can run a bit leaner and a bit more timing, yet not near what you could with a quality race fuel or E.

Add one degree of timing per bottle of booster ingested anally.

Higher Octane doesn't add horsepower all by itself. It DOES allow you to run leaner or more timing or more boost or all three in proportion to the amount of octane added. Counting ONLY on octane booster in your gas to,protect your engine from detonation is not a good plan. It IS, however, one of the tools you can use.

I used nos octane booster once. It was after I put eight gallons of regular in my boosted vvt car. All i can say about it is i didn't get any knock and I didn't blow up my engine. I wouldn't use it otherwise. The car is tuned to 93 octane pump gas.

I have used torco in supercharged mustangs. Jon Lund did the tuning and he recommended the torco. We picked up close to 20hp with the torco due to the added knock protection. This was before e85 was available at pumps though.
