04 Miata with hot side MP62 and MS3

Hi All,

So after 6 years with my car, i think its about time to get some more power out of it.
I bought my S/C kit from a forum member and also my MS3.

I just recently got the S/C and it seems to be in perfect condition, Teflon coating has no scratches the bearings also seems to be in great shape, there is no movement (i am not a mechanic). I've added a pic and a video below for your impression (1. pic 2.video)

My setup will also include 640cc fuel injectors (Flow Force), an inter-cooler (EBAY), iridium spark plugs (NGK BKR7EIX11) and FM stage 1 clutch.
I will probably use dual throttle body to maintain a good idle.

so i have been reading almost every thread possible on the 13 pages that we have on this forum and will appreciate it if you guys can help me with the question i am still wondering about.

1. This bracket should be connected to the S/C top (to the cover where the air is blown out) to where i should connect the outlet that i circled in red? (pic 3)

2. What is the round bracket? is it a custom made? how to use it? i also have the FFS mounting bracket. (Pic 4,5,6)

3. I know this S/C was set aside for a while and wanted to confirm the oil level, i took a syringe with a small hose and tried to suck it up but failed to do so. i am thinking to turn the S/C upside down and let it drain to to a cup so i can measure how much oil i have, any other suggestions?
if i am not mistaken there should be 100ML of oil?, should i use loctite for the draining screw?

Any other tips suggestion will be more than welcome.

1) outlet is for idle air. Since you have an '04, ms3 and will be running dual throttles (I am too) you can get rid of that whole part. Your stock throttle location will take care of idle and you don't need the rest of it. Usually your maf would mount to one end of it then off the the blower throttle. Edit: you will need to supply your own airflow path from filter to blower throttle.

2) the round bracket is there to hold that little bracket on the end in the right location. This is where your throttle cable housing attaches.

3) Moss, sells little pre measured bottles of s/c oil. Call their tech line for specified amount (if you wish to just check what you have). Also supercharger reboluilders can tell you... Such as PSE or Jon Bond.

Not sure if you have one or not... Attached is a copy of the original BRP installation manual. Also, fwiw I used a TDR intercooler with piping on my 2000 and it made installation pretty painless. Maybe there's a used one somewhere. I'll see if I have anything else in the way of documentation/parts.

I bought my oil from Jon Bond (he has a new formulation) and while you have it off the car may as well replace the coupler because it's cheap and much easier off the car.

Looks like they're using that port for fresh air vent for pcv instead of idle air fresh air source. That could still work for you. Just don't put the pcv fresh air between the blower throttle and blower. There is too much vacuum there. I filled my catch can in 300 miles like that.

Thanks a lot guys!

1.According to the manual the bracket that is currently mounted on my S/C is less supportive, there is no place for the brace arm to connect to (like the FFS does), or that I am missing something ?

The FFS.

2. I don't understand how this outlet/port is working, its located after the air filter, which means that it sucks air, but unfiltered air.

To where you suggest I can connect it to? just before the intake manifold TB will be ok? or it will be better to cap it and just install a breather (small air filter) to the pcv?

Thanks again,
Rom

1. You're right the later bracket is better. You should have something to support the weight of the charger other than letting it all hang from the header. Not a deal killer. Can be something as basic as bar stock with two holes in it, to even something like an adjustable end link. The other end would usually go to a small 90 degree bracket that you could fab yourself or to the long pivot bolt on the power steering. Don't quote me on that, it's been a long time, but you'll find somewhere to mount the bottom support. Using and end link made it really easy since the head could rotate around if there weren't perfect areas a bar support could align.

2. That other outlet is for the IAC across the engine bay, if your kit mounted it to the intake manifold. If your IAC is on the SC side, then you can cap it since it's able to grab air from the other side of the tub butterfly.

My support is on the power steering pivot.

When running dual throttles you still need to keep iac plumbed on the intake throttle. If NB just leave the iac. If NA you gotta plumb a iac source from somewhere. You could just stick a little filter right on it if there is room... Because you should be running speed density with your ms3.
