Default brp m45 coldside info?

Anyone know much about the BRP 1.8L m45 coldside setup?

I found the SC unit and the Intake manifold. It's missing the throttle inlet, pulleys.

I'm trying to figure out what its worth.... and if its worth having around.

That car belongs to a guy whose handle is 200bhp on miata.net and OnlyMX5ives on Nutz: Startseite

My dad just bought a 5 with a coldside M45 kit on it, (after abusing my car - MP62 Hotside circa 210bhp), at a trackday and loving it)

Having driven a CS the throttle response is mental, you can't hear the charger whine at all, it really feels just like a big engine, (more so than my charged 5 due to the lack of whining).

His car has a 67.5mm nose pully, it's driven from the alternator pulley (150mm) so the pulley ratio is pretty healthy . The tune is pretty conservative, but we reckon it's about 180f/whp. The intake mani is tapped and ready to go for 4 port WI, that's the only way we're going to be able to get more power out of it now.

The tensioner assembly sucks, it uses the alternator tensioner, and there's about this much >< belt wrap on the alternator, so it squeals like hell on first start for about 20 seconds, there are DIY methods of improving the design, (VW tensioner and big sheet of steel).

In short I like it a lot, it's unbelievably OEM to drive, but you are limited on the amount of power you can make.

EDIT: If you already have a turbo, bolt it on and be twincharged that's what I'd do

Lol... that would just be bad. Plus I'm 1.6l. I do have another miata now though....

What do you think the SC and intake manifold are worth if its just them alone?

What difference does the engine size make? If its stock, (your sig is confusing, is it stock or pushing 230 ), you should just bolt it on

Dunno on worth, you've got all the important bits, plus I'm on t'other side of the pond which may squew values.

For one... I have a custom intake manifold. For two, I have a 1.6l.... and the bolt on IM linked to the SC is for a 1.8l. Small issue....

I guess i'm just curious as to what they are worth and if I should keep it around for whatever other project might arise.

Ah good point! You should either sell it to me for buttons or keep it for another project

If you do decide to fit it, tap the mani for WI and fit the nozzles ready in anticipation, once the fuel rail is on it's impossible to get at their location.

I still have no idea what it is worth... and thus can't make an offer on it.

So for now.. i don't own it.

Ahh sorry, I thought you wanted a price as to what to sell it for!!

to buy, as it's incomplete, I'd probably offer £750-800 here in the UK, that's what, $1000 over your side of the pond?

1.6l using a 1.8l specific SC isn't really something I feel like rigging.

Not sure if you had seen this yet, but may help you see how much work is needed to make it work.

How much work?

That seems like very little work honestly. One adapter plate and a few parts. Some time fabricating (dremel and drill)...

Not many BRP CS kits around. I got in on the second (and final I believe) run of castings. I went from JR hotside at about 9psi to BRP CS at about 8psi and it was about the same overall acceleration "thrust" but the CS pulled like a stock bigger motor. I'm not sure what Richy was driving in but mine whined like crazy!

I ended up going to the stock JR pulley for a little more mid range boost and lost a little top end but it was still fun... I actually still the BRP CS pulley if anyone needs one.

I'd say with a used blower you should pay around $300. It is going to be some trouble to piece together the other parts but you'll be able to do it.

Good luck!

It has a Larini catback and a JR manifold, I expected to be able to hear it whine, but you can't hear owt!

Coldside is generally quieter than hotside.

And to be honest the stock setup is garbage, so even if you had it, you'd end up making this anyway. (I am!)

I had a JR header, JR cat, and RB catback...it wasn't exactly quiet!
