Hi RPM Power Surge
Seeking advise and opinions.
I took my car to the track on Friday for its first lapping session after boost install. There was a significant power surge at 6300 rpm to redline at 7000. Any thoughts on why it would be there and how I can get it to happen at lower RPM. |
Power surge, is a bad thing or a good thing? Im confused, why would you want it at lower rpms?
|
power surge as in the car went faster? Since when is that bad? Our engines make more HP as the rpm rises so...

Power surge is a good thing - always. :giggle: I would just rather it happened sooner in the RPM range. My red line is 7K, the power "step" happens at 6.3K so I get a 700RPM range before having to upshift and drop out of the surge. If the surge happened at 5K then I would still be in the surge range for the upshift.

6-rib kit with the autotensioner, @ 5psi-ish, so slip shouldn't be an issue. It is running the stock PC for fueling though. I figure the AFR's are leaning out up top (normal for a PC), and that's where the extra snap is coming from.

Dave, Yes, Cardriverx I have a boost gauge and it seems to my limited knowledge that boost comes in where it should and I do not hear belt slippage. I guess more boost and better fuel management is in my future eh? (Canadian joke). |
