Hi RPM Power Surge
 

Seeking advise and opinions.

I took my car to the track on Friday for its first lapping session after boost install. There was a significant power surge at 6300 rpm to redline at 7000. Any thoughts on why it would be there and how I can get it to happen at lower RPM.

Power surge, is a bad thing or a good thing? Im confused, why would you want it at lower rpms?

power surge as in the car went faster? Since when is that bad? Our engines make more HP as the rpm rises so...

Power surge is a good thing - always. :giggle: I would just rather it happened sooner in the RPM range. My red line is 7K, the power "step" happens at 6.3K so I get a 700RPM range before having to upshift and drop out of the surge. If the surge happened at 5K then I would still be in the surge range for the upshift.

do you have a boost gauge? Do you get boost at the lower rpms? Do you hear the belt slipping?

6-rib kit with the autotensioner, @ 5psi-ish, so slip shouldn't be an issue. It is running the stock PC for fueling though. I figure the AFR's are leaning out up top (normal for a PC), and that's where the extra snap is coming from.

Yes, Cardriverx I have a boost gauge and it seems to my limited knowledge that boost comes in where it should and I do not hear belt slippage.

I guess more boost and better fuel management is in my future eh? (Canadian joke).
