Default Supercharger + Bov

I am trying to find some info on this, but just can't find enough.

I want to make a dual TB setup.
For this i need a BOV.

Could you guys tell me what kind of BOV i need, and how to connect it?
My setup is running on 12PSI (0.6 Bar)

Would this be a good BOV for the setup?

http://auto-onderdelen.marktplaats.n...k-edition.html

More info: http://www.templetuning.co.uk/hks-ss...ion-5602-p.asp

Or would you guys recommend a different one? I do not want to much noise though, since tis is my dialy...

Hope i get more response like this...

Here is my topic on the dual TB setup:

There is no specific blow off valve for a supercharger. Any one will work. All you need to do is install it and hook up a boost/vacuum line to a port on your intake manifold.

The HKS needs a flange adapter to work, I would recommend something like this from silicone intakes (dot) com

In my opinion, it would be easiest to just cut a section of your cross over tube and just slip this coupler over it. There are a plethora of blow off valves that can work with that piece.

There is even a HKS adapter that will work, if you have your heart set on it. However, the HKS is LOUD.

The BOV you show will be fine. You'll need to connect it by tee-ing off the intake, preferably, between the output from the intercooler and the throttle body you are going to install on the intake. You can install it before the intercooler if you have to.
Since this is a daily driver you want to be quiet, use the supplied recirculating adapter to plumb the BOV outlet back to the supercharger inlet before the supercharger throttle body.

IIRC, the 1.6 and 1.8 throttle bodies have different mounting patterns. You should be able to use a NB or NB2 (Mk2 or Mk2.5) TB, just remember that the IAC will have to be removed or capped on the supercharger inlet TB (unless you can make them both work in parallel). You only need one throttle position sensor on the intake manifold TB.

Here is why you want a sequential BOV for your supercharger application: http://www.hksusa.com/products/more.asp?id=792

Ok thank, great info!

What do you mean with supercharger inlet before the supercharger throttle body?
And this would make the HKS BOV more silent?

Lazy_g, these questions make me a little worried about your ability to successfully pull this off. Time for you to do some research on your own.

To answer your questions however.

1. You will have two throttle bodies when you are finished.
One will be on the inlet to the intake manifold just like an unmodified engine. This TB should have the Idle Air Control (IAC) and the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) attached to it (just like stock). The other TB will be mounted to the inlet of your supercharger.
I'll assume that you can mount the Blow Off Valve (BOV), on a tee of some description (like viperormiata posted), between the outlet of the intercooler and the TB on the intake manifold. The BOV has a recirculation adapter which takes the dumped air (instead of venting it to atmosphere). You would connect a hose to this adapter and connect the other end to another tee which you would fit between the Air Filter (or MAF if you still have it) and the TB mounted on the inlet of the supercharger.

2. Recirculating the BOV in this way makes less noise than dumping the air to atmosphere.

Well i am doing my research, but i think it is the language difference wich makes it difficult for me. Since i am dutch, and my technical english is not that great... And most of the info is in english....

Then please accept my apologies, your English far exceeds my Dutch.

Is a BOV even needed.

I run dual throttles, and 9PSI on my mini mp45 supercharged car, and don't have one.

Ran it for the past year, no issues...

Over here in the uk most of us have 2 throttles, some run BOV's, but a lot don't. I have never heard a compelling argument to fit one.
My supercharger has a bypass, so this does the same job surely?

I'm not running a Bov on my MP62 after dicking around for several months thinking I needed one. I figure that as long as the bypass has no orifice to slow it's action my low boost (6psi) application works just fine with no bov.

I heard about the saying of the HKS valve being loud.... If you take the whistler out of it... (looks like a mercedes sign) it is actually very quiet, and you don't sound like a gianormous ricer.

Edit: 12 psi is like .8something bar.

I know, as I say, I'm yet to hear a reasn other than people assuming you need one because turbo's do (well they dont have a bypass). Or "its a cool noise".

There are a couple of people who say it had a negative effect!

It has been some time since my last post.

Some final movies from the road trip:

For more movies click here

After this we started on big maintenance and cleaning. This did give a lot of problems for a few weeks...
This is what she looked like first:

Cleaning part 1 click here
Cleaning part 2 click here

Ok now the good and the bad news:
For full story click here

Last but not least, i finally got a dyno run!
Result 181,2 RWHP en 234Nm torque!

Not bad, but we can do better! So new to do list:
- 550CC injectors (now 450CC)
- new exhaust system
- new downpipe
- VVT Controler
- a good tuning session.

200RWHP should be possible i guess...

Full story click here!!! including end result pictures of cleaning

Ok i think you guys are fully up to date now!

Looks like a healthy and torquey setup.
That AFR plot is TERRIBLE though. I hope you're not driving around with it like that.

well it is my dialy drive. This AFR is only at full throttle. since on daily drive, i almost do not use any boost, should be fine right?

Do still have to look into that AFR line though...

It looks completely untuned. Not only is it inefficient but it could be knocking. If your WOT afr is that wavy then I doubt your part throttle AFR is any better. I would get that fixed asap if I were you.

This is my map now:

Any tips?

There's really not much to tuning fuel: make sure you're smooth and consistant with kpa/rpm increase.

I'd start by taking out those 2 ugly *** dips up top. Then add fuel in boost pretty much everywhere since you're damn lean. Then start tuning cruise cells such that you're in the 14.7-13.5 depending on load and rpm under 100kpa and redline.

you need to start reading up on tuning asap
