Default Kraftwerks released the new Rotrex kit for NAs

Goodwin is taking preorders. It is intercooled and makes 185 RWHP

My tiny assed turbo is intercooled and it makes 225whp.
It also allows me to get better fuel mileage than a supercharger would, because it increases the volumetric efficiency of my engine in ways that a Krapwerks or any other supercharger can't.

One of the above two posters I know for sure has a lot of serious track time with forced induction Miatas...

Yes but this is Miataturbo so every answer to supercharger question is turbo. I am some what interested in a supercharger as I DON'T need crazy power just a nice boost that will be controllable for autocross/track days. My stock Miata is SO easy to drive it makes me look better than I am on the autocross track.

They're good for what they are, just overpriced to cheap asses like us, and not intended for what most of us want out of a miata.

If anything these were severely hyped up on here when they 1st came out...Then the issues arose. Then the drama. Then people were left with their thumbs up their butts waiting on promises that were never intended to be kept.

I think KW is trying to turn that around now. At least I hope so.

Technically correct, best kind of correct.

Please don't start the "supercharger easier to drive than OMGTERBOLAGGGGcharger" debate, we really don't need any more of that.

As usual, Vlad is correct. Poorly implemented kit was poorly implemented. I'm glad they at least got an intercooler on it this time around.

tomiboy: what are you looking to know that isn't already out there? It looks like they intercooled it, added 305cc injectors to keep the stock ECU happy at idle, and then added a RRFPR to make it run fat in boost. I see no mention of a super/power/voodoo card in the documentation this time around, so I can only assume that's how they are going to make it work.

Call Goodwin or Kraftwerks/Skunk2 and ask them, then let us know

My thoughts are, that without rebuilding your bottom end, (which I don't intend to do) you really can't go over 250 RWHP so I'm not sure I want to spend what a good turbo kit would cost (think Andrew's TSE kit when released). I want a system for the track, so I'm interested in power from 4,500 to redline primarily, and I want the lowest IATs. For me, (if it is reliable!) the Kraftswerks kit fits the bill. (at this price point) Big question...will it be reliable? I know the turbo guys are thinking how cheaply they assembled there own system, but I don't have that level of knowledge or the electronic abilities that many on here have. My generation wasn't raised on computers. William Chen (Bellwilliam) feels highly about Rotrex so that's good enough for me

only electronic capabilities you need is disconnect stock ecu, plug in the megasquirt ecu. BOOM roasted.

Don't forget about having to solder the flux to the capacitor and the reducing the ohms on the rev limiting tach fuse.

I know this may be an old discussion but what's better for auto x? The rotrex or MP62? Just about to order MP62 kit.

I'd tend to say MP62 based on the ZOMGTORQUES@2100RPM!!!11!!

Go check out the Miata.net supercharger section for some unbiased debate.

first post.

1995 Rebuilt stock motor with the new Kraftwerks Rotrex kit. Joined up here to get EMS education but it doesn't look like there are too many examples in the supercharger section.

DW200 fuel pump, DW350cc injectors, RRFPR, intercooled @ 183whp @ 6800rpm

Thinking AEM EMS-4 and goal is 225whp. No plans for more power.

Already had a couple turbo cars and wanted my first charger - had it for about 5000 miles and really like it a lot. Power delivery is more refined than a turbo - which I describe as more, "violent". Not a bad thing depending on your use for the car. Mine's a DD and a cruiser - track duty once or twice a year. It's no problem to break the wheels loose in first or second with this kit.

How does your 183whp car easily break loose in 2nd gear, but my 245whp car doesn't? Do you run crappy tires?

As for standalones....

Whether the car has a turbo or a supercharger has not much bearing (read: none) on what EMS to use.

It's Megasquirt time. Don't bother looking in the supercharger section on here, look at the standalone section.
