guys (and girls), i have a friend looking to get rid of a Mini Cooper S super charger...he claims to have seen it done on a miata, but i've yet to see it happen.
anyone know if this is true, and if so, how much fabricating needs to be done?

anything can be fit onto anything else. it will require a shitton of fabrication and custom parts. in the end it wont be even remotely worth it since you can pick up a used jrsc kit for 1k these days

the blower is the easy/cheap part. and its a tiny blower. you'll be looking at 200hp not much more.

And in all likelihood you'll spend more than $900 getting it to fit on your car unless you have access to a free machine shop and welder.

Offload it. Buy a jackson racing fecalcharger for 1k and be done with it if that's the route you're going to go.

Considering the JRSC is rated at wat, 160-180whp, I think I'm good. I got a T3 A/R.60 that I was goin to put on, but I don't want the down time.

It will fit, but before even considering installing it you should obtain the fuel management and so forth which are required to run forced induction.

I'm currently fabbing an SC14 to my 1.6. I decided to redo my mounts as I didn't like it super close to the exhaust. I'd suggest googling up some supercharger kits and viewing their mounts as reference to what you'll need to do.

As for reliability, its only going to be as reliable as you build it to be. As the saying goes pick two: Cheap, reliable, fast.

Then you are out of luck if you want to be cheap on having an SC, they go on ebay for 200 bucks so I'd pop it up on there and maybe invest in something less DIY.


My setup is running me about 600 bucks total now, but I'm running megasquirt and have a wideband o2 as well.

Yea, I've got a MegaSquirt and other goodies on the car. I've got a pretty complete turbo kit, but idw start tapping oil pans and whatnot

Actually one of our guys developed a very good system for pretensioning, that I think is the best for the moment (I will search and show the pictures)

Usually we go for MP45 supercharger (the teflon coated version, so the last one) + eManage

Obviously in the UK so postage would be difficult but it shows you how much you would be spending.

I thought about doing this for a while before I got my turbo. I ended up going turbo because I couldn't find one of the mini superchargers for a reasonable cost. Also I wanted a better upgrade path. If you do want to go this way I think I still have the rather good plans I got off a member of another forum. It really doesn't look to bad fabrication wise. If you want the plans shoot me a pm.

Or you do the smart this and get a mp62 seeing as you can get you up to 250 out of the box with a ecu and 62mm.

So you obviously don't want to fab anything, considering you are shying away from even tapping your oil pan. This means your only option is to buy all the pre-fabbed accessories to make it fit from the UK. That stuff is 545 pounds - and if you do the exchange rate, that's a lot more in dollars, plus you need to ship it.
AND, you'll notice on the website efay posted, in the directions you have to drill the supercharger for the inlet to fit, so you really have to do just as much 'fab' work as you would with tapping the pan for a turbo...

Not so worth it, even though you got the SC for a good deal.

I vote for an M62 if you are going for a supercharger kit. M45 would be better suited for a B6D.
