Default a buddy really got me interested

in supercharging.
i am really big into drifting.....

therefore i see tons and tons of turbo'd 240's so i thought turbo was the best way to go..... but then i talked to a buddy and he made a good point...... if i can drift my bone stock NB..... then why don't i just s/c where the power is throughout the band making the car feel like it has a bigger engine......

so also, i want to get into a little bit of autox....... and he said that supercharging is better turbo iho for autox.

so all in all, this is becoming a win/win situation......

the only downside is getting the power levels that i want. doing research, i guess it is harder to reach your goals with a supercharger rather than a turbo, which makes perfect sense because the compressor can spin a **** ton faster......

now im not a complete noob to forced induction, i have done my fair share of research, i know how it all works, but i just want a simple opinion.
my goal is in the 230-250hp range.
the car has 175k on it so if the motor pops, it pops, no big deal, i'll throw another in there and swap in a bigger pulley to lower the boost down.
i know how a s/c works, i know i need a faster flowing fuel pump, i know i need bigger injectors, i know i will need a fmic for the power that i want to achieve, wideband 02, possibly meth inj, obviously aftermarket ecu, and it would be a bright idea to get a bigger exhaust.
now, the thing that i don't understand is how the crank/s/c pulleys work...... how do you swap out the miata's crank pulley with the harmonic balancer attatched without ******* up the engine?

so with this being said, i kept on doing research.

my car is a 2001 ls..... so this limits my options with s/c kits compared to the na's with 1.6.

like i stated before it's bone stock...... w/ a/c and ps

some of the kits i came across fast foward, jackson racing, kraftwerks, brp

now i think this thread is going to be full of rant, but can someone please be on a legitiment state of mind and fill me in on some information?

what setup would you use and why?
what size pulley would you estimate on the s/c to make my goal? my guess is 120mm [+/- ~13psi]
what ems would you work with and why?

please don't hate

I think you're confusing this with another site like:
clubfagster.net
or
miata.***

If you are wanting a supercharger kit just go with what the kit advertises and what the supplier states. There is no magic to making a supercharger work well they are what they are really.
I say centrifugal blower with MS ECU PNP.

You're friend is a absolute loser.

This site does great things to people. For instance, I use to have a stupidcharger and I used to autocross with it every month or around 15-18 races a year for 2 years.

I ******* HATED THAT THING

I had the blower for 4 years and guess what, I don't ******* miss it at all. It wasn't just a stock blower either. It was ported, had the all fancy TDR fixin's and was used with a built head. The turbo swap was 10x's better, in every way. I have more torque (which is what the supercharger **** are always yelping about) and I can keep pace with fast cars on the highway. 6psi map and a 15psi map, I actually have choices. Superchargers are stuck in "*** mode" 24/7. Not to mention the ******* belts you have to carry with you, the lack off idle, the heat, etc...

...superchargers are disappointing.

The only ones that make the torque all the sc nutswingers keep referencing when they defend supercharging are the big Uberchargers like kenne bell or possibly the mp62 with every single bolt on imaginable. And even then they're in the low 200's.

There are exceptions. But they're really rare and chances are you wont be one of them.

This is true though.
So irritating when a noob says "been searching and can't find the info" then asks one of the most beat to death questions of all time. OF ALL TIME

I'm very curious what Brain's editing involved in the first post.

Was it to:
A: Uncapitalize all the first words of each sentence and all proper nouns?
B: Randomly remove 1/2 the periods?
C: Randomly insert many periods in the form of ....'s?

If you buy the FFS kit, I hear that you don't need an intercooler and also get a discount on mustache rides from a certain cowboy...

Why do I do this to myself?

If you already did your research, then you have probably already read THIS and THIS and also THIS. THIS and THIS may also be of some use to you. You would also know FFS is a joke, the old *** Jackson Racing MP45 sc's are way undersized, and BRP has been out of business for years. I'm surprised you didn't mention VF The Moss/Jackson MP62 & Kraftwerks Rotrex are the only things people around here even tolerate, and I believe the Rotrex is the only thing in current production that might meet your HP goal (with some custom fabrication and legwork.) I recommend the Rotrex, but I have one so I'm biased.

You hit on 2 things in your post that really **** off the natives around here: 1) dri0ft0 and 2) superchargers. Tread lightly. Lurk here for a couple months and keep reading, then try again.
