Default 6 Rib Crank Pulley??

Okay I've been trying to find a solution for a while now. I have a Kraftwerks Rotrex kit on my '90 1.6. I have been dealing with belt slippage. I currently have a Gates belt on that lasted a little longer than other belts but is starting to slip after only a couple months. My P/S and A/C is deleted, and my S/C, idle, and tensioner pulley are all good for up to an 8 rib belt. Is there a crank pulley that's available for 6-8 ribs? I was talking to a guy from Track Dog who said he was able to get me a link to a pulley for 6 ribs and told me if I were to replace my alternator with a 92-97 alternator as well as replace the water pump pulley for 92-97, I would be able to run this pulley. But I have a short nose crank and am preetty sure this won't work for me. Anyone able to pitch in? Thanks...

Post pics of your current belt setup/tensioner setup. Doing a conversion to 6 rib is going to be expensive and custom as far as I know for your setup.

I just converted a long nose to a 4-rib alt setup in case I spring for the TDR 6 rib SC pulley. You may be out of luck on the short nose.

I never had belt slip on my rotrex in 35k total miles, 2500 of which were on track, with 4 rib belts from Gates and from Goodyear. Not sure why you're getting slippage. You're sure you're at the right tension?

This was on a 2001 vvt, not a 1.6, but the physics involved is no different.

Do you know how old your Karftwerks kit is? The first generation brackets/autotensioners had an alignment problem.

Edit: the problem with going to higher rib count pulleys is that the crank pulley has a damper built into it, and going to a pulley without a damper is a bad idea long term.

Totally agree. I even called TDR to ask them about this. They were not concerned, but I still would be. I wish they had a 6-rib overlay.

949 ... the text looks a bit incorrect to me,

Pulleys are same as OEM 130/147mm diameter

~snip~

152.4mm 6 rib outer pulley (OEM is 130mm)

That's a great design.

If you read between the lines... The first 4 ribs are in the same position.

That to me says

"Works with any supercharger kit if you want it to"

Put the word "stock" before each of those systems. The add a note that says:

"We have no desire to teach pleebs how to convert a 4-rib to a 6-rib. This pulley will not convert a 4-rib system to a 6-rib without other (potentially major) modifications"

In terms of alignment, if the 1st 4 ribs are in the same place as stock, it will line up with say, the JRSC.

Go for it. I wouldn't drop $350 to experiment, but to each their own.

Oh, I am sure it would cost quite a bit more than that

I am full DIY now, so my situation is different.
