My supercharger suddenly started sounding like a firetruck
I was cruising ~ 50mph yesterday on my way back from picking up some chinese food and I started to looking around because I thought I heard a firetruck somewhere. After turning the radio down and declutching, I realized it was coming from my car :( I bought a used old JSRC kit (sebring one) and have put a good 4-5k miles on it in past couple months. It never got louder until suddenly yesterday. It still makes boost, but its just makes terrible noises. It is intercoolered with 2 throttles and the pre supercharger throttle is still functioning properly.
Setup - 96 miata Old jsrc kit (sebring) - I changed the oil when I installed TDR tensioner and overlay pulley 1mm smaller nose pulley air to air ic with two throttles makes ~7.5-8psi megasquirt Has my sc bit the dust? |
Check the bypass is operating properly.
|
Pull the belt and rotate the pulley by hand. You should not feel anything at all. May be a bearing(s) gone.
Had you ever checked the oil? |
It is the bypass valve. It doesnt work anymore :( I guess the diaphragm in there finally gave up the ghost.
