I genuinely think I won't need/want more HP. I own two other cars with significantly more power and I love the fact that I can put the pedal to the floor and just row through the gears on the Miata.
Before I bought my 94 I test drove a 96 with an FMII and voodoo at 6 psi. It was low miles at 46k and I LOVED it. It wasn't fast, but quick enough. I should have bought the damn thing. They would have taken $7500 for it and I bought mine instead to save the extra cash because the Miata is my third car. I'm kicking myself so hard now for not spending the extra $4000 and thinking I was being practical at the time.

I feel the same way as far as power, the car can out drive me as is on the back roads stock. some sticky tires and suspension to keep them planted paired the symphony of supercharger whine and exhaust screaming will be plenty of enjoyment as I bound up and down the hills.

OP. I'm in your same shoes. I just bought an M45 kit myself. Being used and not knowing how it was run, I sent it the high speed lab to be refurbished. I figured I mine as well have it ported and thermal coated while it's in their possession. I installed the MS3 Pro pnp and all the tunerstudio software, which has been pretty easy to use. Not to mention a slew of how to videos and support tuning it.

Having gone from the JRSC M45 setup to a small turbo, that is the one thing I miss from the supercharger setup. The whine was amazing (and paired with the dual throttle body setup and HKS VTA blow off valve, confused everyone).

The turbo makes some pretty great noises too though...

Hey guys,
So I've tried to mount up the supercharger and the Racing beat headers actually stick out too far and are in the way. Has this happened to anyone else? I don't really want to spend money to buy a different header...but would a different one even work??

P.S. I've dyno'd my car at 99hp so I think I'd be super happy with even 130hp at this point.

It's not just you. Those headers aren't compatible with the M45. I went with a used set of jrsc headers for $60

msmola2002 11-18-2019 04:59 PM

Yep, my setup was running JR headers.

Stock header is fine, you could sell the RB and recoup the cash.

I've got an FFS combined with water/meth and it's a fun little setup. I would strongly recommend either an intercooler setup or keep it simple and go water/meth, with water/meth you don't need dual throttles or a full ecu (obviously preferable though).

For back road blasting the whine of the blower and the linear power delivery make it a riot and you get lots off full throttle time which adds to the excitement.

I'd love to pay $60 for a used set of JRSC headers. Anyone know someone selling one?

Just get a set of cheap chinese ebay headers they worked fine with my m45 kit for the couple years i ran them.
you may have to make a couple acoustic adjustments to make them fit BFH worked for me.

i ran a cheap raceland style ebay header when i had my m45 performed flawlessly for the 2 years i ran the setup.

i also have the orginal m45 fuel pressure regulator if your kit didnt come with one that i was using until i sold the kit. let me know if you need it.
