Remove a/c
Gents,
I currently have a depowered steering rack but the a/c is still in place. I don't use it, and would like to remove it. There does not appear to be an idler pulley replacement for the a/c compressor. Do I just use a shorter belt? If so, can someone chime in with the length. Thanks, |
You just use no belt at all. The AC/PS are one belt, the Alternator on another. If you don't use AC or PS you just remove the belt all together.

Negative. The a/c and Rotrex are on the same four-rib belt. The alt and water pump are on the other belt.
|
If the P/S pump is out of the way, what's keeping you from just running a belt from the crank to the rotrex and ignoring the A/C altogether?

Knowing what length belt to buy... It seems that the belt needs to be just the right length or the tensioner pulley and the idler pulley could get too close together after tightening it up..

Sure. Sure... absolutely the best way. But to do that right, I should remove the belt that is currently on her, and back out the idler/tightening pulley. I prefer not to do that unless I have a belt to try.
Unfortunately, I was on hold with the Kraftwerks tech support line for what seemed like quite a while, even though I was next in the queue. I was at the office and had to bail on the call. I'll give them another try today. |

Excellent!
Thanks much, |
Kraftwerks stated they would not have that info--their kits are designed to have both p/s and a/c installed.

I can check the exact belt when I get home but I recall using the K040460 belt, which is 46 5/8". I am running the Rotrex with no A/C or P/S.
Thanks again, |
