'06 5-speed Shifter Relocation?

I have an '06 Miata 5-speed that I may end up lengthening the shifter to fit my car project needs. As some may remember from a few posts prior, my next car project will be a Harley powered MG M-Type replica of sorts.

Morgan Motor Co in the UK makes a new version of their three wheeler. They started reproducing them in '12 and still going strong. They use a S&S 2L v-twin mounted inline via a motor to trans adapter housing mating up to the later model Miata 5-speed. In the early years, '12 & '13, they used a more rearward mount for the shifter and the problem was that your elbow would hit the seat sometimes when shifting. They eliminated the rear mounting block and used it just as it is in the Miata with a more forward shifter location.

Here's the early version.

Here's the later version using just the stock Miata shifter location.

I have an '06 5-speed with just 20k miles clocked on it and it's in great looking condition. But due to the placement estimates of the motor/trans in my MG project car, I may need to extend the shifter rearward for easier access. I guess i could do the old lengthen the shifter lever routine, but having the shift relocation mount would be much better as it would keep the same shift geometry etc.

Here's what my car will resemble, but keep in mind that there will be a Harley V-Twin out from of the grill in full air flow.

So does Miata make this rearward mount? Does anyone know where I might find one?

Thanks in advance for your help.... As always!

Have a great day!

I am not sure who makes the NC 5-speed. There are probably variants of it in other automobiles that may have a different shifter location. There has been a lengthy discussion about some of the NB 6-speeds but nothing to my knowledge on the NC transmissions.

I just got the adapter that's shown in the top photo. It repositions the shifter about 7" to the rear from stock.

A fellow Morgan Three Wheel forum guy has an early M3W that he converted back to the forward position and I'm getting his take off parts for $50. Sounds like a fair price. Although there probably isn't a big demand for such an adapter.

Thanks all for looking!

Have a great week... :)

Sorry, last night I must have scrolled down too far and got into a "related" thread and posted there. BUT, the weird thing is, I don't see that thread moved to the top as an active thread again.

Oh well, here it is in the correct thread.

I just received the adapter and here are some pictures if anyone may need to do this later on in some sort of modified Miata etc.

It relocates the shifter rearward 7" from the original location. It reuses all the same bolts as the Miata was equipped with. Just the adapter is needed. Don't know who makes it, but there are numbers if that helps.
