1.6 to 1.8 brake swap help!

As the title states, I started this project today, lines, 1.8 rotors, 1.6 pads, 1.8 brackets. I got the front two assemblies back together but have run into a few issues with the rear. First, with the rotor on, the caliper bracket doesnt seem to have enough clearance with the pad clips on. And also, i have one stuck caliper that i cant get the piston to retract on... The Hex nut on the caliper is more of a key that will relieve something internally in the piston that will allow it to retract correct? It seems i have one stripped key and one good one, Im hoping i can use the good one twice if thats the case? Thanks!!

Hmmm . . . Never had an issue with the caliper bracket. You sure you have the 1.8 version?

And, yes, the key for both sides is the same, so should be no problem to swap if you've got one side stripped.

Brake grease is your friend on those rear calipers and pins.

As far as I know I got all four 1.8 brackets, I ordered from treasure coast Miata. And alright awesome, I need to tackle the rest of the job today. Thanks for your input

Your parking brakes will keep the piston from retracting. There is a socket head cap gear under the hex nut, you can use an allen key to retract the piston.

The parking brake self adjusts, your old pads were probably worn down pretty good.

Check the bottom of this page. Play with the lever to load/unload that little gear that may be stripped.
