1.6 to 1.8 diff driveshaft question
I'm upgrading from a 1.6 to a 1.8 diff. I picked up a manual 2005 driveshaft from a yard (one of those where they pull it and charge you a premium). That shaft had bad u-joints, so I swapped it for another. They gave me one from a 2004 I think, but an Auto. I know that 1.6 are the same, but are 1.8? They said its the same.
Anyway, it does not fit into my 5 speed trans. Its OD and ID are slightly larger than the 1.6 What am I missing here? should I just get a rebuildable drive shaft? Never mind. called the junkyard, it was from a 99. they have the right one for me, only a 2.5 hour round trip :/ |

I read that NB auto have a larger output by about 1/16" but info is scarce, seems like you might have confirmed. Apparently a NA auto driveshaft should work?
