225 on a 7" rim
Searched and only got a bunch of bunk results.
Well right now I've got my Kosei K1s which I'm really satisfied with but I feel that the 205s I have on them now are a little narrow. I'm sure someone has run a 225/45/15 on a 7" kosei or something similar, anyone have pics or experiences with them? |
Running 225-50-15 Yokohama ES100's on motegi 15x6.5" wheels. Yeah, the wheels are ugly, but the tire fits fine IMO.

I have Kuhmo 225/50/15's on BBS 15x6.5's for my RX-7. Works pretty good.
Pic for reference. http://lh5.ggpht.com/_OFjbTkyhkOs/SA...800/dgrr16.gif |
I ran 225/45/15 Hankook RS2s on 6.5" rotas on my Civic with no problems. Hell, I ran 225/45/15 Hoosier Autocross tires on the same size wheels as well.

I have 225/55-15 toyo proxxes 4 on some 7" enkeis, I was told 7" is the minimum width for 225 tires, but apparently these newbs (pat excluded) think otherwise. I don't have any real good pictures of the tires, but I'll tell you this: its black and wide and looks like a tire.

I'm currently running 225/45/15 RA1's on my 15x7 Volk TE-37's on the track and they are ok. I really need an 8" wheel to square the sidewall, though.

2 trips to DGRR with my set up on a Mazda far heavier than a Miata, and it handles perfectly. Who's the 'newb' now! :fawk: ;) |

I've run 225/45/16's on the front 6.5 inch S2000 wheels without any problems. I ordered some 15x7's with 225/45/15 R1R's that should be here any day now. I'll post some pics once they arrive.

Sweet deal. Looks like I have more shit to save up for. Feel free to still post pics of your setup.

Lol. We're noobs, but you are stating that 7" is the minimum for 225's because, as you state, 'i was told'.
2 trips to DGRR with my set up on a Mazda far heavier than a Miata, and it handles perfectly. Who's the 'newb' now! :fawk: ;) I should have clarified, I was told through RESEARCH that 7" is the suggested minimum width of wheel to run a 225 width tire. Now as many of you know, you can put a 195 width tire on a 9" rim, and you can even put a 245 width tire on 5.5" rim, basically whatever holds air is supposedly "good to go" However putting a wider tire on wheel that is narrower than suggested by the tire manufacturers will use all of the sidewall's available flex, thus resulting in the contact patch flexing to get the desired 180 degrees. With a contact patch that isn't flat, you're not getting the full benefit of the wider tire, much like an over inflated tire. BUT! with only a .5" difference between the suggested width and the 6.5" that you're using, this could probably be solved by lowering your tire pressure by a psi or three. So before I get flamed for my miata.net snobishness, I just wanted to make it clear that I merely voicing my surprise at all the folks with 225 tires on 6.5" wheels, NOT saying that you're all wrong and I'm right, and apologize if my answer came off as so. Pat's wheels do look very nice |

not a great shot of the car, but its the best I have of my wheel/tire combo

i had a similar post on cr.net, im probly going with a 225/50/15 g-force sport on a 15x7 for my daily :)

If I had to do it again though....I would have gone 215's. There is flex in the sidewall, not too bad, but it is there.

Got these in a few days ago and thought I'd share:

225/45 R1Rs? Let me know how you like them. I was dead-set on getting a set before I traded my 6ULs for the Advans I have.
