Default Speed gauge calibration

Ok, i have a potentially stupid question, but I have searched (half assed) and not yet found the answer, so i thought i would just ask. When i put in a 3.6 differential, how do i re calibrate my speed gauge? It is in a 95. Do i get a different gear for the speedo cable. And also, when i do a 6 speed swap, does the gear go in where the speed sensor went? And will it drive the speedo right? Thanks.

You'll need to buy some parts to make a new mechanical sender to replace your old one with:

1011-17-442A - This is the sleeve that will position the gear in the proper location to engage the gear within the transmission. If you use the sleeve that comes in your 5-speed transmission, the gear will be free-floating and will not engage. Thus, no readings.
M502-17-441 - This is the actual gear.
9922-20-214 - Spring Pin for holding the gear in the sleeve.
9958-60-8166 - Oil Seal for inside the sleeve.
1011-17-443 - O-Ring for the outside of the sleeve.

Assembly is pretty self-explanatory once you see all the pieces in front of you. You'll have to lightly tap the spring pin into the sleeve, I actually used the flat side part of some needle nose pliers to get it started, it will resist, so don't worry about using a little force, just don't bend it. Make sure you have the writing on the inner oil seal facing you when you install it, and use something that won't damage it to seat it at the bottom. That's about all there is to it, other than installing it. Be sure to coat the o-ring with some oil during installation so it doesn't get bound up.

If you are talking about the actual gear, maybe so. Don't know though, I had some help and got the parts straight from Mazda. It's really not to expensive to do it that way.

new speedo gear is like 20 bucks new from mazda yeah. The problem with using a 626 speedo gear is that it might not work becouse of different trannys, and gear sets.
