hey guys figured i would let you all know what went down with the car and clutch kit... Mark over at Falcon Clutches in Deer Park NY got me a new 1.8L lightweight (12lb) steel flywheel, steel for better heat dissipation an Exedy pressure plate and he custom made a clutch disc for me, 4 puck sprung. said he even put extra thick pads on it for a longer life. I got my new pedal assemblies in so i was able to adjust the pedal and preload on the TO bearing and i must say i couldn't be happier!! engages smooth and its very predictable. I love it! i highly recommend this shop!

Say what? Any pictures of said custom clutch? Do you have tq capacities? I've never heard of a custom clutch, beyond one made from brake pads at a LeMons race.

no i dont have a camera so i didnt take any pictues before i put it in. This shop does NOTHING BUT CLUTCHES! He told me he "made the clutch disc for parts" so I assume he just had a blank clutch disc of the correct diameter (no pads or springs or spline) picked whatever springs and clutch pad material he found to be best for my setup and a Mazda hub with splines, then pressd it all together. yeah he built the kit to handle around 200 lb ft of torque which is plenty for now until I boost it.

I think I have a problem too.
Here is the deal:
I overhauled my engine (1.6l), fitted a F1 flywheel and Exedy clutch + PP (stage 1) (all 1.8l).
After all this was done I had to pull the gearbox again as I "forgot" to glue the bolts that hold the flywheel (oil came trough the tread).
I re-installed the gearbox and now there is a noise when the clutch is not pressed. Must be either the trow-out bearing or the pilot bearing. When fully pressed the "whoowhoowhoo" sound goes away.
I might drop the transmission again to look what is going on and change the pilot and throw-out bearings for Mazda OEM.
The thing is, I have a weird combo:

1989 car (and transmission)
1.6 engine (1993)
1.8 flywheel
1.8 PP and clutch

What parts should I order ?
There are 2 different types of trow out bearings (early and late ?). Are there differences between 1.6 and 1.8 too ?

All the same T/O and pilot bearing, but if requested tell them a 1994 1.8

Happened to me too with an O.E. replacement.

The weird noise... Just went away. I don't get it..
