Alignment yesterday, rear slightly off.
 

Hi everyone,

I brought my miata in to get aligned yesterday and found that they couldn't get the numbers I wanted for the rear, it was off by 0.5 degrees.

I based my ride height and alignment off 949s numbers with slight variation.

Stance coilovers (8k/6k)
3.75" F, 4" R pinch weld to ground
Dunlop star specs 205/50/15

Aimed for:
F: -3 camber, 4.5 caster, 0 toe
R: -2.6 camber, 0.09 toe in per side

Actual:
F: -3 camber, 4.5 caster, 0 toe
R: -3.1 camber, 0.1 toe in per side

Is 0.5 degrees of camber in the rear and 0.01 degree of toe in going to make a drastic difference in the way it was originally intended to handle? Another issue that concerns me is that now I have more rear camber than the front, not sure if that's also an issue or not.

I also noticed that the car is a touch more squirrely at +60mph in a straight line, compared to before.. although I'm not sure if that's just normal due to the drastically increased camber than before plus the slight toe in, plus the fact that it was raining and 43 degrees out yesterday, lol.

Raise the car up to get rid of the unwanted static camber gain, realign it.

I figured that's an option, but raising the rears would also increase the rake to more than the quarter inch I wanted. Unless I also raised the fronts, but then wouldn't that throw off the numbers in the front?

I also figured doing any raising to the ride height would defeat what the given alignment specs were meant for, as they were meant for ride heights lower than 12" hub to fender..but I guess if hitting alignment numbers vs ride height numbers were a priority, I'd assume hitting the numbers on point would be greater?

I can't find it, but there's a graph/calculator somewhere that will tell you how much static camber gain you get in the Miata.
