Axle Line Issue
 

So....The simplest way to explain this issue is that the passenger side axle rod is too close to my coilover, while my driver's side axle rod is fine. The gap between the helper spring collars and the axle rod on the driver's side I would say is about 0.5 inch (12.7 mm). While the gap between the helper spring collars and the axle rod on the passenger side is at very best about 2 mm (0.078 inch). I was curious if anyone has encountered this phenomenon before. Things to consider: this is a 1991 miata, with a 1994 4.3 LSD, with 1995 29.5 inch axles. The differential has delrin bushings as well. Earlier I had a 1995 4.1 LSD, that exploded on the drag strip due to bad launching technique. I had thought it could have something to do with that, however replacing the differential by myself proved to be very and did not seem to have bent mounting studs. The things I have thought about to alleviate the issue is to take out the helper springs on my rear coilovers, which will give me a good gap, but I wish to leave that to last resort as I like road comfort. The other idea I had was that since the PPF is mounted on the right side of the car (reference to driving position), it might be rotating the front of the diff enough to decrease the gap between axle and the spring; which if that was the case I would figure a mounting system of some sort to re-align the differnetial. I believe the time the axle rubs against the spring collars is certain bumps and quick acceleration (in other words I haven't gotten to boost in a while). Thank you for your input.

Possible factors could be bent upper or lower control arms or alignment favoring one side over the other or bent subframe or bent frame or misaligned differential.

Offset the lower bushing. FM's VMaxx stuff even comes with them now, to prevent this. You may have to get creative, depending on how your shocks mount in the lower end.

When I get a chance I am going to inspect the whole rear end for anything out of place or looking strange. Currently I live in a different part of the state, and my miata is in another part. I am hoping maybe the alignment has changed since it has been probably been about 1-2 years since my last alignment. I do have FM's VMAXX Track pack, but just the coilovers. I have Racing beat sway bars and endlinks. I also have Garage star delrin diff bushings, but everything else in the rear is stock. It will most likely be around early March that I am able to inspect the miata. I let you know as soon as I know.
