Bellhousing options

I did a search and this didn’t come up, I hope it hasn’t already been posted.

I’ve been looking into what different transmission options are available for our fantastic little B6/BP engines. I’ve already shredded two 5 speed boxes, I have a 6 speed available but up here in the great white north (still green, no snow yet) I still have about 3 months with my car up on stands to decide what to do.
I’ve looked into the RX7 Turbo transmission swap and it seems like a good alternative. A cut here and a weld there and we have something that will hold 300+whp.

Then I stumbled upon this:

Has anyone heard or tried this out? Looks like it can really open up some options for us.

Adam.

transmission adapter plate

Very interesting. I'd be curious to know what the adaptable transmissions cost?

Did I see that right? $599???

Then the transmissions it seems to adapt cost about 2k. It would be one thing if you bought a $600 adapter that you could mate a $500 transmission to it that would never break, but damn.

Yeah, and lets say you ran a richmond 6 speed or whatever else with that bellhousing. Would the shifter location be the same? Would the driveshaft need to be modded? I'm pretty sure the splines are different, and the trans would most likely be longer than a miata tranny.

Anyone know the spline count on the miata trans, can't seem to find it?

The driveshaft problem would be relatively easy issue, but transmission length could really booger things up.

Other thought is what about the PPF? The big aluminum brace from trans to diff, I think PPF is the name. How well would the car do without it? Never known anyone take it out and drive it. Sure someone here has though.

I think the LS swap kits actually mount that brace to the body. My trans am had a similar brace, but the tranny also had a cross member. The miata has no seperate cross member, so yes, this would also be an issue.
