Default Clutch install looks funny, just want to be sure

Literally just crawled out from under the car after bolting in a FM flywheel and a OEM Mazda clutch and presure plate. Its been a long time sinc I've done a clutch, but when the pp bolted up the fingers went from sort of pointing out slightly to flat when the pp was tightend down. I had to compres the pp about 3/16 with the bolts to get it to seat. Just being stupid sure I've got it right before I go and put the tranny back in in the morning. Yes the higher profile side of the disc is on the transmission side. Thanks.

I can't understand your issue. Did you put the clutch disk in the right way? pressure plate is supposed to be fully compressed when you tighten the bolts.

I'm with Soviet on this...
If the bolt hole faces on the pressure plate don't sit against the flywheel before you tightened the bolts, then something is wrong.
I see your car is a '92...I am quoting this from the FM website, here: http://www.flyinmiata.com/index.php?...500%20%2010.30
"1.8 size. You can use this flywheel on a 1.6 car if you also install a 1.8 clutch."
Perhaps you used a stock 1.6 clutch? I'm not sure what the differences are, but what clutch are you using?

Oh yeah, let's just say that you do reply saying, "oh $hit, I did use a 1.6 liter clutch with this flywheel".
Here's my advice:
If you're going to buy another clutch, don't get a stock one. I HIGHLY recommend the FM Level 1. Especially since you're turbo'd. You don't want 2 things...1) a stock clutch that slips, and 2) to do the job over again when you pull the stock clutch out to replace it with a better one.
Moral of the story: Since you have it all apart, just put in a good clutch and don't look back.
