Best Coil overs and control arms?
 

What are the best coil over and Control arms to get? I don't mean the race on rediculous ones, but some really good ones. Know what I mean? I want to basically find out who they are and how much they cost so I can spec out the cost of building up a raceing set up.

Probably the most expensive ones you can find.

The best coilovers may be the ones already on your car.

I don't know how you drive, what you plan to use it for, or what your budget is.

But this question has been asked so many times, someone looking for the same, on the same budget, has surely already had it answered for them in some thread, somewhere.

One stop shopping for your "basic" needs.

What am I really looking for. I don't generally tell people what I'm looking for. The real reason is no one takes it seriously and then I have to go back to asking specific questions. I don't currently own a miata. I own a modded mustang gt that I blew up. But instead of spending 3k on getting the motor re built and moving on, i'm looking at my options. I, as my name suggests, am a canyon runner, and a 3500 lb. muscle car as you can imagine doesn't turn that great. now I've put some money into the suspension and the thing turns pretty good now, but its heavy. I want a car that I can hit 150 mph with and turn over 1g on the skid pad. I want a re-inforced body with lightened components. That does the 1/4 mile in the 12s and screams on the highway. I don't tell this out right because I get hit with people screeming Noob. But the truth is, i'm probably just a little more hard core than your average, "I'm ok with swapping better non racing parts on my car". So, what I mean is, exactly what I said. What are good coil overs. I don't need custom race team ones, but I would like a good set that will grip the road and probably be more aggresive than 90% of the average modders would like.

I want to know what is the best, and what is the next best. The front suspension on my mustang will cost me 4k and the rear will cost me an additional 1000 to the 500 ive already spent. I am happy to do the search, but truth be told I don't want to spend 3 hours looking through engine info when I searched for "brake swaps". Especially if someone can just tell me, ground control with the 800 lb/in springs and bilstein shocks or something like that.

Find a car, find out what you don't like, and then fix it.

Miatas come with factory (non-adjustable) coilovers. I drove on stock suspension for over two years before I started to find things I didn't like in the handling.

Don't go out spending money fixing problems you don't know you have yet.

Most folks are very pleased with a simple shock/spring/sway setup like the packages from Flyin' Miata.

Most folks don't get into full on adjustable height and damping coil-over packages until they start racing.

If you have to have some for the street, the Teins get good reviews. They offer the Basic to start with, usually around $900+.

You can get decent shocks, sways, springs and mounts for about the same, maybe a little less.

To try and answer your question, is like trying to answer "what's the best pizza?". There are dozens of coilovers, and thousands of variations of miata suspensions running around. I'd suggest you go to a few autocrosses or track days, get some ride alongs, find somethign you like, and duplicate it.

bilstein HDs + fat cat motorsports perches and mounts + QA1 springs (let FCM help you decide on rates and shock valving).... this will run you about $1800 if you have to revalve the shocks for your spring rates.

as for the control arm question... there really aren't any aftermarket control arms for the miata. change out the bushings with polyurethane or delrin. that's the closest we get to aftermarket arms around here.
